Testing Center

The Ranger College Testing Center provides a secure, accessible, and supportive environment for students and community members to complete required exams. We offer a variety of testing services to help you meet academic, placement, and certification requirements.

TSIA2 Testing Options

Ranger College offers two convenient ways to complete the TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) test:

  1. In-Person Testing
    Take the test on campus under supervised conditions.

  2. Virtual Testing
    Complete the test remotely via the Accuplacer online platform.

Important Information for Dual Credit Students

If you are a high school student enrolling in Dual Credit courses, please coordinate your TSIA2 testing through your High School Counselor. Your counselor works directly with the Ranger College Dual Credit Administrator to facilitate the process.

 

Testing Instructions

The TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) is administered at the following Ranger College locations:

  • Ranger Main Campus
  • Erath County Campus (Stephenville)
  • Brown County Campus (Early/Brownwood)
  • Select high schools for dual credit students

Note: TSIA2 testing is not available on days when online final exams are being administered.

Testing days and times vary by campus. Please contact your preferred location for details.

  • Testing Day: Tuesdays beginning at 9:00 AM
  • Cutoff Time: No new testers admitted after 11:00 AM
  • Registration: No appointment required (first come, first served)

Testing Fees

  • Full TSIA2 Exam (ELAR + Math): $30
  • Single Section Test: $15

Important:
The TSIA2 groups ELAR (Reading & Writing) together. First-time testers cannot take these sections separately.

Testing Requirements & Policies

TSIA2 Pre-Assessment Requirement

Before taking the TSIA2 Assessment, all students are required to complete the Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA).

Important: You must provide proof of completion before you will be allowed to test.

First-Time Testers

If this is your first attempt at the TSIA2, you must also complete the practice test.

  • Select “Don’t have an account? Sign Up” to create an account
  • Complete the required practice activity before your test date

Complete the Practice Test What to Bring? 

To ensure a smooth testing experience:

  • Pay your fee in advance and present your payment receipt
  • Bring a valid photo ID
  • Bring proof of pre-assessment activity
  • Bring proof of practice test
  • Arrive on time
  • No cell phones or electronic devices allowed
  • No food or drinks at testing stations

Take the TSIA2 from the comfort of your home using the ACCUPLACER online platform. Virtual testing offers a convenient and secure option for students who are unable to test on campus.

  • Ensure you have a reliable internet connection
  • Use a computer with a webcam and microphone
  • Be prepared to show a valid photo ID

Virtual testing sessions are monitored to maintain testing integrity. Additional instructions and access details will be provided after scheduling.

TSI Exemptions & College Readiness

TSIA2 College Readiness Benchmarks

ELAR (Reading & Writing)

You are considered college ready if you meet one of the following:

  • Score 945–990 on the ELAR CRC and at least 5 on the Essay, OR
  • Score below 945 on ELAR CRC and
    • Diagnostic Level 5 or 6, AND
    • Essay score of 5 or higher

Mathematics

You are considered college ready if you meet one of the following:

  • Score 950–990 on the Math CRC, OR
  • Score below 950 on Math CRC and Diagnostic Level 6

 

TSI Exemptions

SAT (on or after March 5, 2016)

  • Math Exemption: 530 or higher
  • Reading & Writing Exemption: 480 or higher (EBRW)

ACT

  • Standard ACT

    • Math Exemption: Composite score of 23 + Math score of 19
    • Reading & Writing Exemption: Composite score of 23 + English score of 19
  • ACT (on or after February 15, 2023)

    • ELAR Exemption: Combined English + Reading score of 40

    • Math Exemption: Math score of 22

PSAT (Dual Credit Students Only)

  • Math: 510 or higher
  • EBRW: 460 or higher

Military Exemptions

Students may be exempt if they:

  • Are active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces, Texas National Guard, or Reserves
    • Must have served at least 3 years prior to enrollment, OR
  • Were honorably discharged, retired, or released from service after August 1, 1990

Additional Exemptions

Students may also qualify if they:

  • Hold an associate degree or higher from a Texas public college or university
  • Transfer from an accredited private, independent, or out-of-state institution
    • Must have completed college-level coursework deemed acceptable by Ranger College
