Pregnant and Parenting Students (SB 412)
In accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and Texas Senate Bills 412 and 459, Ranger College does not discriminate on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions. Pregnant and parenting students are entitled to equal access to academic programs, activities, and support services.
Ranger College will excuse absences due to pregnancy or childbirth for as long as medically necessary, as determined by the student’s healthcare provider. Students will be allowed to return to the same academic and extracurricular status they held before the medical leave began and will be given a reasonable opportunity to make up any missed work.
Pregnant and parenting students may request reasonable accommodations such as excused absences, extended deadlines, or access to class materials. All accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis.
In accordance with Texas law, parenting students are eligible for early course registration. Designated lactation spaces are available at each campus. Students may also be referred to on-campus or community resources related to childcare, housing, transportation, healthcare, and academic support.
The Pregnant and Parenting Student (PPS) Liaison for Ranger College is Patti Woolam, and can be reached at pwoolam@rangercollege.edu or (254) 433-1617.
