Ranger College is proud to announce that Llew Rust has been named the 2024 Coach of
the Year by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA). This prestigious
honor is a testament to Coach Rust's dedication and the significant impact he has
made on the college rodeo circuit. Under Coach Rust's guidance, the Ranger College
rodeo team has not only achieved outstanding competitive results but has also embodied
the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie. His approach to coaching goes beyond
technique and strategy; it's about cultivating an environment where student-athletes
can grow both in the arena and in life. "Llew Rust's commitment to excellence is evident
in everything he does," said Scott Norwood, Athletic Director, at Ranger College.
"He has not only built a strong team but has also fostered a supportive community
that values hard work, integrity, and persistence. We're incredibly proud to have
him as a part of our institution." The Coach of the Year award is given annually to
a coach who has profoundly influenced their team's success, shown exceptional leadership
qualities, and contributed to the advancement of rodeo at the collegiate level. Coach
Rust's unique ability to inspire and motivate his athletes has set him apart in a
field of highly talented and dedicated professionals. "I am deeply honored to receive
this recognition," said Coach Rust. "It's a reflection of the collective effort of
our student-athletes, the support staff, and the entire Ranger College community.
Together, we've created a program that not only pursues excellence in competition
but also champions the values of the NIRA." Coach Rust's example serves as an inspiration
to current and future student-athletes, and his influence will undoubtedly leave a
lasting legacy in the world of collegiate rodeo.
