Chapter 1606 – Montgomery GI Bill Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)
Chapter 1606 provides education benefits to members of the Selected Reserve, including the National Guard, who are actively participating in drilling and training requirements. This program is designed to support service members as they pursue college degrees, technical training, or other approved education programs while serving.
- Monthly education benefit payments
- Can be used for tuition, fees, and training programs
- Supports degree and certificate programs
- Must be an active member of the Selected Reserve or National Guard
- Must have a six-year service obligation
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must remain in good standing with your unit
Apply online at va.gov/education/ and complete VA Form 22-1990.
Apply for Chapter 1606 BenefitsSubmit the following to the Financial Aid Office:
- Certificate of Eligibility
- Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE / DD Form 2384)
- Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges
- VA Request for Certification Form
- Degree Plan (completed by your advisor)
