Counseling & Advising
Ranger College provides both counseling and academic advising services to support student success. Although these services work collaboratively to assist students, they serve different functions.
Counseling services are voluntary, and students may schedule an appointment without a referral. Counseling sessions are confidential, and information is not released without the student's permission except as permitted or required by law, including circumstances involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of the student or others. Ranger College is committed to supporting students experiencing emotional distress or a mental health crisis. Students, faculty, and staff who are concerned about a student's well-being are encouraged to contact the AVP of Advising, Recruitment, and Counseling, or the Dean of Students for assistance and referral to appropriate resources.
In an immediate or life-threatening emergency, including situations involving a threat of suicide, self-harm, or harm to others, individuals should call 911 and Campus Security immediately. Counseling Services and the Dean of Students will assist with appropriate follow-up and continued student support following a crisis. The AVP of Advising, Recruitment, and Counseling is located in the Warford Pathways Center and the RC Dean of Students is located in the Golemon Library and provides services and support to students at all Ranger College locations.
