Eligibility for Need-Based Financial Aid
To be eligible for federal and state funded financial aid, an applicant must meet the following general requirements:
- Be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen. Applicants with a student visa are not eligible for federal student aid.
- Be registered with Selective Service (males only)(State of Texas aid funds only No longer required for Federal Aid).
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED).
- Be enrolled as a regular student in an eligible program and working toward a degree, or certificate.
- Be in good standing and/or maintain satisfactory progress in the course of study pursued.
- Demonstrate financial aid need for assistance documented by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Not be in default on any federal loan or owe a refund on a federal/state grant.
- Be Registered with Selective Service if male and 18 or over (Requirement for State Aid only).
