My journey in nursing education (academia) began in 1991 when I was asked to join the faculty of Cisco College as a vocational nursing instructor. As a medical/surgical nurse I was able to apply my experience in the classroom and clinical settings, allowing me to guide students through their learning. The program was geared to the non-traditional student. After several years I returned to bedside nursing as an end-of-life practitioner, adding a new dimension of care to my experience as a nurse. I returned to academia and was again able to apply my experience in the preparation of traditional students in a baccalaureate nursing program. Nursing and nursing education have been a special part of my adult life. As a nurse educator I believe I have affected positive change in the profession one student at a time by emphasizing excellence in patient care. As a bedside nurse I had the opportunity and privilege of being at the bedside of patients that needed care, support, and encouragement.

I am an adjunct clinical instructor for the RN program. I have been the ER Director and Trauma Program Manager for Eastland Memorial Hospital for 2 years.  I began my healthcare career as an LVN over 16 years ago and now hold a Master’s Degree in Nursing with an emphasis on Executive Leadership. I have worked in large metropolitan facilities as well as very small 2 bed ER hospitals in far west Texas. I love teaching and watching students grow in their  practice with each experience. Nursing is a calling; and I’m blessed to be where I am and I get to help others achieve their dreams. I’m married with three grown children and one in high school. I enjoy road cycling, running and watching NCAA College Football.
