Ranger College has basketball men’s and women’s teams.
The Ranger College Lady Rangers have developed into one of Region V’s top women’s basketball programs over the past few seasons under head coach Bill Foy. The Lady Rangers have won 58 games over the last three seasons and advanced to the Region V tournament three consecutive seasons. Foy served as the assistant men’s coach under Billy Gillispie during the Rangers’ run to the national tournament in 2016. Prior to taking over the RC program, Foy coached Paris Junior College to the men’s NJCAA national championship in 2005.

One of the premier small college basketball programs in the nation, the Ranger College Rangers have put the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference on the NJCAA basketball map over the past four decades. Ranger has advanced to the NJCAA national championship tournament twice in the past four seasons. The Rangers were the NJCAA national runner-up in 2018-19 and advanced to the national semifinals in 1996. The team also qualified in 1966 under former RC head coach Ron Butler. The Rangers have sent several players to national prominence, including Jordan Geist (University of Missouri), Kris Clyburn (UNLV) and Trey Conrod (Texas A&M-Commerce). The team is led by former Texas A&M and University of Kentucky head coach Billy Gillispie, who played at RC under Ron Butler after graduating from Graford High School. The RC basketball program also fields a competitive junior varsity team.
